Duncanville, Texas is surrounded on the southwest corner of Dallas, and surrounded on three sides by big D.
But that' s not the real reason for this blog.
I've grown weary of writing letters to the editor and sparring with some of the locals in the papers and thought I'd venture into the cyber-world with my thoughts and ramblings.
Exactly who am I and why am I qualified to write about Duncanville? I retired from "Little D" in 2007 after 23 years of working for the municipal government.
Now your initial thought may be that I am here to rail and rant against my former employer. But you would be so far from the truth. I actually enjoyed working there and still maintain friendships with almost everyone there. I also firmly believe that those running the city (hired employees) are doing everything they can to make Duncanville the finest community possible.
It's some of the elected officials that are doing everything they can to drag the city down and slow growth. Some of them don't know that's what they are doing, they just don't know any better.
We even had one candidate that run for office that said that Duncanville has "too much growth."
How'd he get elected? Voter apathy and shortsightedness by those in that particular district.
Now. I'll be posting off and on about Duncanville and the political (and sometimes not so political) happenings.
In other words, I'll probably write about anything and everything. And if something outside the realm of Duncanville should catch my attention...well you can rest assured that I don't and won't shy away from too many topics.
One last thing...I'm a strong conservative, Christian who thinks that being politically correct for the sake of political correctness goes against everything that is right and good in this country. So let me go ahead and get the apologies out of the way.
There I go again...being politically correct again.
Yeah...I've got a warped sense of humor and if you have a sarcasm detection system you better turn it off. I'm liable to blow it up, sarcasm should be expected when you visit.
